For the longest, the New York mets could barely score, yet today every single bat in their lineup woke up, heck, their starting pitcher Jacob Degrom was 3 for 3 by the end of the 4th inning. The 4th inning was magical for the Mets as everything seemed to go right for them in terms of offense, a grand slam for Wilmer Flores, back to back 2 run doubles for Michael Cuddyer and Daniel Murphy, and so much more.
Cuddyer led off the inning with a single and right after, Murphy walked before Campell grounded out. Kevin Plawecki then reached on a feilders choice to load the bases for Degrom who singled, and then Flores launched his 6th home run of the season and the Mets 1st grand slam of 2015.
After that, back to back singles from Granderson and Lagares followed by a walk to Duda loaded the bases again. This is when Cuddyer and Murphy each scored 2 with doubles. After that, Campell lined a single to score the 10th and final run of the inning before Plawecki struck out. That was just the 2nd out of the inning and following that out, Degrom singled for his 2nd hit of the inning and his 3rd of the game boosting his average to .294 which is now actually the best average by an active player on the team.
Jacob Degrom was 3 for 3 after 4 innings.
Following his hit, Flores came up for the 2nd time and grounded out to end the inning. 15 players came up to bat in the 4th inning, and the Mets recorded 10 runs on 9 hits which included 2 doubles and a home run. Now that is how you score, 10 runs in an entire game would be enough for the Mets to go on another 11 game winning streak, but 10 in an inning is just insane.
