Newest Wearer of the Platinum Sombrero: Randal Grichuk

The Golden Sombrero is something that no major league hitter wants to be associated with, and that's after getting 4 strikeouts in a game, so the shame of striking out 5 times in a game has to be even worse, and that's exactly what Randal Grichuk had done on May 18th against the New York Mets, making him one of 15 MLB players to record at least 5 K's in a game.

The last time the Platinum Sombrero was worn was last August when Jay Bruce did it. Fortunately, Grichuk redeemed himself the very next day with 2 doubles, a triple, and 3 RBI's.
