Everything seemed to go right for the Mets as they beat the Phillies 6 to 3 behind strong outings from Bartolo Colon and WIlmer Flores. Colon began the day by striking out the first 3 batters he faced in the 1st inning and had made it through 6 innings giving up 3 runs on 6 hits and 2 walks. Colon racked up 6 strikeouts which brought his season total up to 50 and now stands at 7-3 for the season.
Believe it or not, the Mets hit, and they had hit a lot. In the 3rd inning, Lucas Duda hit a solo Home Run off of Gonzalez to tie the game at 2 and in the 4th inning, Michael Cuddyer hit a solo shot to take the lead. After the Mets gave up their final run of the night in the 5th inning, Wilmer Flores hit his 7th Home Run of the season for 3 runs.
The Mets pulled in 8 hits, which included 2-4 performances by both Granderson and Murphy. After Colon came out in the 6th, the Mets bullpen gsve up only 1 baserunner through a walk in the final three innings. After Andres Torres and Robles combined for 2 innings with 2 strikeouts, Famila came in for this 14th save of the season with a perfect 9th with 2 strikeouts.
