In todays game against the Phillies, everything that the Mets touched turned to gold, whether it was the offense, pitching, or everything in between. Syndergaard went 3 for 3 at the plate and is 4 of his last 4 dating back to his last outing.
In addition to hitting 2 Home Runs, Duda had also hit a double, which turns out to be the 100th of his career and puts him 4th on the All Time doubles list by a Mets 1st baseman and brought his average up to .305.
On the other side of the ball, Syndergaard threw 7 and a third scoreless innings with 6 hits and no walks while striking out 6 and bringing his ERA down to just above 2.5. The sweep of the Phillies brought the Mets to 27-21 on the year and now stand at 1 game behind the Nationals for the NL East and are now int he 2nd Wild Card spot. The Mets get tomorrow off and then start a 3 game series with the Marlins at Citi Field who have a worse record than the Phillies at 18-30 and have lost their last 3 games.
